谢谢Visctor0540的翻译。这篇文章我收藏并打印出来给家人看了。平时人们都倾向于“大安主义”，危险没有发生的时候，就以为肯定不会发生，习惯地无视隐患。我看到很多办公楼的走火通道的楼梯是堆放了杂物，防火门一直打开着或被锁死，根本起不到失火时隔烟或必要时逃生的作用。

期待Victor0540多翻译一些日常安全防护的文章，比如，万一发现失火，应该如何保命。

Dear Francis, thanks for your translation contribution.  Like all translations, it is often opened to debate and discussion. Therefore, neither your version or mine will ever be the final.  Personally, I would prefer to avoid the word "fortune" in this context, as it is also frequently used in other monetary or financial contexts such as: It costs a fortune; Fortune 500 companies; Wheel of Fortune; or Fortune Teller etc.  "Luck" or "blessing" would be a better alternative in my opinion.

I certainly boycott the iPhone. Locking the phone to a strategic telco is absurd.  There are a lot of smart phones out there on the market that can serve what you need.  Don't get caught in the marketing ploy.

I still prefer the Windows-based smart phones as there are a lot of softwares including freewares out there and there are so much you can do with it.  However, I am speaking from the point of view of a techie.  For an average person, iPhone might be the answer of your need.

From I can understand that when you try to update the software on the unlocked iPhone, Apple's new update will corrupt the software on the unit.  This will make the iPhone becomes unusable.  So, buyer beware.
 
I am certainly not looking forward to the iPhone as I don't like the idea of paying for it and being locked to a specified mobile phone carrier.  This is not a fair go and is absurd from the consumer point of view.

Thanks for your comment, Anna.  "Sea of people" is a proper English expression.  I know there would be a better expression out there somewhere.  However, it did not come to my mind at the time of the translation. I am happy to amend the translation if I can think of a better one or if there is a suggestion for a better alternative.

"No problem- I'll use a plasma blast to set fire to the kitchen, and the emergency services will remove everything the flames miss!" Plasma blast is used in the thermal processing of wastes in a Shaft Incinerator, I believe this paragraph means that the man will use the plasma to burn off the rubbish and not to light a kitchen stove fire!  This will obviously burns the house down. The government run emergency services will clean up after whatever is left over from this fire.  He has no intention to remove the rubbish at the first place.  The author intended to write this article with a light-hearted tone.  Thought you might like to look at your translation under a different light.
