Sylvia850727 is a busy office lady, she keeps practicing her translation ability and now has become a talent translator. During years of overseas study and work, Sylvia850727 masters English, as well as Japanese and Portuguese, all of which show her language talent. She has completed 6 projects, which sums to RMB2020. Sylvia850727, you have done a great job!

Name: Sylvia850727
Place: Beijing, China
Profession: SCM Consultant
Experience:4 years
Language
English -> Chinese
Chinese -> English

Vivian: You have a major in English, and another major in Business Administration in overseas colleagues, and now work as a SCM Consultant. What’re the advantages of your background to undertake translation projects?
Sylvia850727: Simply saying that, studying business related subjects and the development of information system (by the way, my major’s called “Business Information System”, which’s a compound subject, consisted of business and information system knowledge) has formed my thinking model in English. And this kind of thinking model not only avoids possible understanding bias during translation in mind, but also makes me feel confident when doing translation works related to my professions. The next improvement that I need to improve is fully expression of what I understand from the work.

Vivian: You possess language certificates in English and Japanese; have completed many C-E translation projects, and even a project in Portuguese-Chinese, all of which show your language talent. Do you have anything to share with us in language study?
Sylvia850727: I don’t like to read translated materials, watch dubbed movies, and especially listen to 2nd hand story. Although this conflicts with what I’m now doing here, it’s the original force for my language learning. I don’t intend to learn certain foreign languages, but curious to understand those appeared around me. I never distinguish foreign languages and other languages, so that I think we’re learning new languages in life. I can speak Cantonese, Sichuanhua, and Shanghaihua, even I understand programming languages.

Vivian: Before your contact with Elanso, have you ever worked in any traditional translation company?
Sylvia850727: Before I came here, I never thought that I can do the translation work professionally.

Vivian: What do you consider as the differences of the working process between Elanso and the traditional translation services?
Sylvia850727: I can’t distinguish them with nothing known about conventional translation industry. However, what I can say’s that Elanso is the only solution of doing translation trade for person like me who spend more than half of the year on the trip of business.

Vivian: Many translators feel that online translation is a complicated affair. What is your thought on this being a user of an online translation facility?
Sylvia850727: Hum, I guess this kind of people should be born before the internet era, and what I can suggest is to update their system.

Vivian: Your translations have had 100% of positive feedback from the clients. Can you share your experience with other translators?
Sylvia850727: Before accepting a new project, customer would usually give you the source material to ensure your acceptance or not. Attention that at this time, you should only accept the project with 100% confidence; and ask contactor any questions related with translation, like whether to translate and modify the charts, ways to handle hand writings.

Vivian:You have applied to be a VIP translator not long after you register with Elanso. What’s the attraction to you?
Sylvia850727: The increase of project opportunity, and excellent customer service.

Vivian: What’s your expectation for your future projects?
Sylvia850727: More opportunities of various types of projects. So curious about them!

Vivian: What else do you expect from Elanso? Any suggestions for our services?
Sylvia850727: To held a party please~~ Face-to-Face communication’s as important as internet in our life. Don’t let the IT era substitute our instincts.

Sylvia850727, thanks for your time for the interview. Wish you get more projects on Elanso.
If anyone would like share with us your story as a translator, please email to our Customer Service!
