The 1st Lesson In Customer Service
A happy customer will tell 3 or 4 people. (If you’re lucky)
An unhappy customer will tell everyone they know
You do the math.
I took the following picture a few days ago. I apologize for the quality, it’s just a snapshot but it speaks volumes.

The red light you see is the entrance to Wal-Mart. The person in the chair across the street is an elderly gentleman with a sign that reads;
“WAL-MART
SCREWED ME
YOU’RE
NEXT”
He had been sitting there all day for three days in 90 degree plus weather. Just sitting there with his sign, waving and smiling to the people in the cars.
Now, I don’t believe he thought he was changing anyone’s mind about shopping at Wal-Mart that day. He is, however, sowing the seeds of doubt and resentment in those shoppers’ minds. I would love to know what upset a little old man so much he went to all that trouble.
Every time we deal with a customer (In whatever capacity) we should remember this old man and do the math.
