If your were a social technology what would you be. Apparently social technology is the term they use now for software applications or more specifically communications and information syndication software applications. Hmm. Ok lets stick to social technology. Lee Oden of the Online Marketing Blog interviewed Forrester Research Vice President & Principal Analyst covering social computing and technologies Charlene Li and asked at her point what social technology she would be.
But who is Charlene Li?
Li is a social computing and web commerce analyst. And more often one most quoted analysts when it comes to web commerce and social computing. And with Josh Berhoff she has a book coming out called Groundswell.
This looks like an interesting read. According to Li and Berhoff, Groundswell refers to a social phenomenon or trend when we (the people) start connecting with one another through the social technologies. As a result people start getting from one another rather than from companies.
I wonder if this is another term for viral marketing. Anyway, the book is for businesses and companies that want to handle this groundswell. It looks a bit and smells like viral marketing.
The last question asked during the interview was if she was a social technology what would she be and her answer was:
RSS/XML. Nobody would know who I am or what my initials mean, but I make everything work together. I’d be the foundation of mashups, social applications, and widgets. Without me, the social Web would grind to a halt.[Source]
