Bar owner Rufus Terrill got sick of drug dealers and other petty thieves hanging around the nearby center for the homeless. Instead of calling the cops, Terrill made a cop. A 300lb, four foot tall Robocop, built from a meat smoker and scooter parts.
The robot is remote-controlled and feeds live video back to Terrill's security system. He chases down miscreants and issues warnings via loudspeaker, and harasses the delinquents with a spotlight and a water cannon.
The real cops aren't too bothered: they haven't yet received any complaints about the home-brew 'bot, and the care center staff love it. Lydia Meredith, an employee, actually calls it "Robocop", and is particularly taken with the vigilante machine:
I wish I had two or three more robo-cops. I wish I could afford to have a robo-cop myself.
We suspect it doesn't hurt Terrill's business, either. He pilots the robot from the porch of his bar, cheered on by his regulars. Video link below.
