so i ordered VS 08 Pro from Softwaremedia.com, they said they had it in stock! (i know it's not supposed to be released till next month, but hey, they said they had it!) i got the package today. and they sent me the VS 08 Pro Upgrade edition, plus a copy of Enterprise Architect 2003 in an envelope labeled "PRODUCT COMPLIANT PACK". so i called them to see why i paid $200 more for the full version and got the upgrade instead. they said it was the same thing, but that the upgrade simply requires something like Enterprise Architect to be installed first. that makes sense, from an installer standpoint, i guess. (doesn't do much for the fact that they sent me something of lesser value, though, does it?) so, my concern is this: i need to install VS08 on a machine that already has VC6, VS03 and VS05. if i install Ent.Arch. 03, then install the VS08 upgrade, is it going to mess up my existing VS03 or VS05 installations ? or, is my concern the fact that they ripped me off for $200 ? no, i won't be doing business with them again, even if i decide to keep this Upgrade version. and i won't recommend them to anyone else, either (check Google[^], and you can see they've pulled this trick on many other people, with many other products, too)
