Nothing helps developers in their learning the "secrets of the trade" like the good ol' example apps. Google knows that hence they've started assembling Google Code repository called "apps-for-android" where interested developers will be able to grab sample apps' source code.
The first application called WikiNotes is already there, and we guess in the coming weeks and months we'll see more apps added to the repository. In the meantime, if you're interested in developing for what could be one of the dominant smartphone platforms in the future, you could go through WikiNotes, which is a rich text editor "designed to be as simple as possible while still demonstrating several major concepts of the Android platform."
What are you waiting for? Google provides you with SDK and examples, while you can count on exposure on IntoMobile in case you develop something interesting. Good luck!
