We hold the Google Summer of Code and hope that we can guide more and more college students to participate in the development of the Kaiyuan Software. Now the new Google Summer of Code is in full swing. In the past four years, nealy 2500 students have successfully “graduate” from the project under the guidances of their teachers from software industry and academic fields. The achievements are evident : millions of lines of codes have been brought about, and the investment to Kaiyuan projects has amounted to more than 15 million dollars. This year, there are over 150 technology-related projects of Kaiyuan software for students to choose when they submit an application. These projects include different categories from operating system to competition managing system.
In the competition of 2008, we had collected 975 pieces of effective works.Every participant had received a scholarship of 4500 dollars and a cool T-shirt And what excited us so much was that the students had established a social relationship during the competition — Students from more than 98 countries had taken part in the Google Summer of Code.We hope this year we can have more students from more regions to participate in our activities.
