JVC just announced two new HDD-based high-definition camcorders in their award-winning Everio line, both capable of capturing full 1920 x 1080 footage. What's new? Both new models, the GZ-HD40 and the GZ-HD30, feature AVCHD / MPEG-2 dual-format camcorders, utilizing superior long time compression made possible by AVCHD, as well as MPEG-2's editing and post-production. (There's also a third new model, the GZ-HD10, which offers 1440 x 1080 recording in the AVCHD format to a 40GB hard drive, and sells for $799.95, but doesn't offer the dual-format feature.)
The GZ-HD40 ($1,299.95) has a 120GB drive, while the GZ-HD30 ($995.95) has 80GB; each also features a MicroSDHC card slot.
