‘America’s Next Top Model’ Recap
Episode 10.9 “For those about to walk, we salute you”
Air Date: April 16, 2008

It’s getting catty in the America’s Next Top Model house. The last contestant to take a hike was Claire (read about that episode here), who I always thought was a front runner for the title. Whitney is still in the game, which makes me so happy. She has a great personality, and also speaks worlds for the plus size modeling world.

The girls think they’re heading overseas soon (or they think), and there’s one thing stopping Fatima going. Her travel documents have gone missing. She’s already got her lawyer on the case, so maybe it will all work out. Personally, I’m not a Fatima fan, so whether she’s kicked out by default, or because she can’t pose doesn’t make a difference to me.

Paulina heads over to the house to give the girls “Paulina Lessons.” While the lessons are fun, can you help but notice that Paulina looks almost as young as the girls? Her skin is flawless! She teaches the girls how to get through interviews and meeting new people. Could the upcoming challenge has something to do with either of the above?

Back at the house, Fatima gets a call from a Top Model producer saying her documents may not get to her in time. Nail biter!

While trying to make potato pancakes, Lauren takes a knife to an onion and slices through her thumbnail. Ouch! After a trip to the ER, she returns to the house and is a-OK. After finding out they’re attending an event, Lauren gets to wear her giant thumb bandage to the all-natural 7up party.

All of the girls wear Jay Godfrey, and have to work the red carpet, and mix and mingle. Stacy-ann thinks she has it in the bag, but I’m finding her obnoxious. She doesn’t have an accent, but her voice bugs the heck out of me. Her smile looks fake because it never slips from her face. Anya wins the challenge, and goes on a photoshoot for 7up. The theme is cute as can be, and includes her being covered in lemons and limes. Better than that, she gets $10,000 for her labor, which included laying down naked, and being covered in fruit looking gorgeous. Lucky girl!

The girls find out they’re headed abroad, and Fatima has a meeting with the consulate to find out what her fate holds. Now the girls know they aren’t going anywhere, so the night of packing was for nothing. The girls will all be featured as the focal point in their own picture, and play a supporting role in those of the other girls. It’s cold and windy, so this should get interesting. Lauren has trouble hiding her massive bandaged thumb, and Whitney and Stacy-ann are dubbed “too posey” by Jay Manuel. Dominique looks like a drag queen in the pounds of blue eye shadow and red lipstick they’ve piled on her.

The photoshoot is over and out, and Fatima hasn’t made it back. Immediately following the shoot, the girls are greeted by the panel, and find out they’ll be headed abroad right after someone is eliminated. Yikes! Fatima explains her side to Tyra who seems less than concerned with the reasoning behind her missing the shoot, and explains that in the history of Top Model, a model who misses a shoot usually goes home.

Reviewing the pictures, almost everyone looks great. Stacy-ann isn’t showing her face enough. I love Katarzyna’s image, as it embodies the vibe of the photo perfectly. Anya also looks great. The judges go into deliberation, and Fatima is on pins and needles. In deliberation, the judges seem to go easy on Fatima, so I’m thinking she’s going to make the cut. In the end the judges decide that Stacy-ann will be the one who heads home.

The rest of the house is off to Rome! Ciao bella!
