Dawud Miracle wonders if your blog is really selling your business.
There’s a good reason that these bloggers are questioning the quality of business blogs.
The sad truth is: many business blogs totally and utterly fail to live up to the potential of what they could achieve.
Why do business blogs fail?
Of course, there are a number of reasons for a business blog to fail, but the number one reason (as far as I can see) is that the blog simply fails to engage its audience. It is of no interest to anyone, let alone to present and potential customers.
Here’s a quick list of business blogging “cheats“ to help keep your blog from failing its mission - some do’s and don’ts to help your business blog succeed (in no particular order):
- Do make your blog a conversation
- Do read and leave comments on other blogs in your industry
- Do join and participate in forums about your industry (better yet, create a forum)
- Do join and participate in several social media sites where your customers are likely to be active
- Do answer comments left on your blog in a timely fashion
- Do address problems and issues that your customer may be experiencing with your product or service
- Do link to your blog from your corporate site
- Do include a link to your blog on your corporate stationary
- Do create unique posts that give your readers an insight into the “personality” of your company
- Do update your blog regularly
- Do use attractive and compelling images
- Do not post material on your blog that looks like it was lifted from a sales brochure
- Do not post material on your blog that looks like it was lifted from an annual report
- Do not be afraid of negative comments
- Do not be dishonest or mislead your readers
Do you have a business blog (and I sincerely hope that you do)? How does it stack up? Is your business blog interesting?
