Link Attack! Star Wars SEO, Headline Templates, Best Blogs and List Building

Translate Into:

link attackI’ve been wanting to write a weekly link roundup regularly on Dosh Dosh but didn’t because I was a little too lazy. Bad excuse really, because there’s a lot of great articles out there.

Some of them are extremely helpful, especially if you’re trying to promote your site or generate income online. Others broaden the mind and may give you a larger perspective on related industries.

I’ll plan do a link roundup once a week in 2008 as it’s a good way to give some exposure to sites and people who deserve it.

Here are some of the stuff I liked in the past two to three weeks:

Inside WordPress: Came across this page while stumbling. John has terrific plugins and his articles on Wordpress are very helpful indeed. Bookmark and read.

This is a series of articles aimed at explaining different aspects of WordPress from a practical point of view. That is, the series is focussed on showing you how to do things rather than telling you what to do, and is suitable for most levels of experience. Each article is accompanied with diagrams and screenshots, as well as highlighted source code.

99 Headline Techniques Revealed: Chris Bloczynski has made a collection of headlines you can use for your article or sales page. Very helpful if you’ll like to experiment with different headlines every now and then.

When you’re trying to draw your readers into the text of your article or sales page, your headline is a crucial first element. Writers should carefully consider their headlines before publishing, to be certain that the headline they use is one that makes the best first impression on the reader. Here are 99 proven headline techniques that any writer can add to their arsenal.

To Niche or not to niche: Top bloggers tell all: Jonathan asks several bloggers (myself included) a question about whether to niche or not to niche your blog. It’s a useful read if you’re unsure about what to do. Here’s the question:

“If you are drawn to write on a broad variety of topics (3-5) even if there is a remotely common thread, are you better off doing it on a single blog or creating several niche blogs for each one?”

Star Wars SEO Link Building For Padawans. Love what Mark has done here. If you’ve ever imagined how Star War characters would build links, you need to read this. Great way to liven up the sometimes dry topic of SEO.

Vader’s a dangerous one. Behind that shiny suit is an aggressive little blackhatter that will stop at nothing to get what he wants and he wants: YOUR search positions! Not quite as subtle as master blackhatter, Vader isn’t scared to crash right in with some link insertion and some aggressive spamming.

From Zero 2 Hero Series - 60 Days to List Building Domination: An excellent series of articles by Ruck on how to create a popular email list. This involves building webpages and drawing traffic towards them in order to get opt-in prospects. The link points to a category page; scroll all the way down to read the first article.

The sole principle of this method is to build 1 page. That’s right, we want to just build one page. Why? Because I can show you how to build multiple email lists in the thousands and juggle them all in a very timely fashion so that you have plenty of time to replicate the methods in broad form, and still concentrate on other tasks at hand.

Blog Interviews: A Way to Build Massive Blog Traffic: I thought Brandon’s article here highlighted some key points on why blog interviews can work to get you new readers. He includes what I feel is most important: the ability to build a closer relationship with the interviewee and leverage that in the future.

Probably one of the biggest boosts that you can create for your blog is by conducting interviews with people in your field. You are probably thinking, “That’s so traditional, how could this such a successful method to build traffic?” In the next few paragraphs I hope to prove to you that interviews may potentially be the best way to build traffic.

What Makes a Rumor so Easy to Spread?: I wanted to share this a while ago but forgot about it. Gord writes an excellent article on what you need for word of mouth to spread online. Read this to boost your viral marketing campaigns.

We all want to be part of the next viral world of mouth success story. We want our product to be at the epicenter of a “buzz” storm that spreads like wildfire across the internet. But the conditions that lead to true word of mouth viral outbreaks dictate that these outbreaks are few and far between.

Money for Nothing (and your clicks for free): Seth Godin’s new eBook on how to get web traffic to your website. It talks about three secrets to web traffic and talks a little about Seth’s Squidoo. A short and quick PDF read.

For the last two months I’ve been working away on a (short) ebook about traffic. Traffic to your blog or your company site. It has evolved quite a bit, and ended up using Squidoo lenses as a template for the point I was trying to make.

Best Blogs of 2007 That You (Maybe) Aren’t Reading: Rex makes a list of the best blogs for 2007 and correctly so, some of them I have not read before. I should probably do a list of my picks for the internet marketing niche. You think?

Last year I decided to put on twist on my annual “best blogs” post by taking a turn toward the obscure. And so in the spirit of celebrating the lesser-known, it’s time again to point toward the best blogs that might have flown under your radar. Here they are, the Best Blogs of 2007 that You Maybe Aren’t Reading

StumbleRank: Here’s a website which ranks StumbleUpon users according to their fans, reviews and no. of stumbles. If you are feeling generous and want to give me a Christmas present, add me as a friend and review my SU profile. ^_^

Welcome to StumbleRank, where we rank top StumbleUpon users for fun and competition. Check out the list to see who the movers and shakers are on the best and most fun socially driven site around. And make new friends while you’re at it!

Reddit Algorithm Leaked!: Well, not really. Regular Reddit users will probably know this already but it’s a good introduction for just about anyone. Here’s what you need to include in your story title in order to increase its chances of getting a frontpage.

Alright, that’s all for today. Happy holidays, everyone!
