Día relativamente relajado en órbita durante el que Akihiko Hoshide y Karen Nyberg liberaron el brazo robot del laboratorio Kibō de su mecanismo de frenado para moverlo a la posición en la que Mike Fossum y Ron Garan procederán a quitarle las fundas que lo protegieron mientras no estaba activado durante el tercer y último paseo espacial de la misión. Los demás tripulantes de la Estación Espacial Internacional y del Discovery, mientras tanto, siguieron adelante con las tareas de acondicionamiento interno y puesta en marcha del laboratorio japonés. Los diez astronautas también atendieron a distintos medios de comunicación y a algunos dignatarios y estudiantes japoneses y estadounidenses a lo largo del día. A última hora Fossum y Garan se instalaron en la la escotilla Quest de la ISS en preparación para el citado tercer paseo espacial de la misión tras haber repasado con sus compañeros los procedimientos que llevarán a cabo durante este. Aki Hoshide recibió la dedicatoria del tema con el que desde el control de la misión despertaron a la tripulación del Discovery, Taking Off de Godaigo.
