While browsing through new news stories, I came across one called Talk Therapy Can Help Kids With Chronic Stomach Pain over at the Center for the Advancement of Health.
The article reviews the conclusions of review that looked at 6 studies investigating the use of cognitive behavior therapy for children with stomach aches. Why I find this particularly interesting is I had many “tummy aches” when I was a child. I remember many times having stomach pain but there didn’t seem to be any particular reason for it.
The total number of children studies is small, only 167, so a lot more research needs to be done. However, it does help give some hope to people who have children with recurrent stomach aches - and it helps people like me by knowing that the medical community is now taking this seriously enough to study it.
