Three giants of the nineties played two nights at Terminal 5 on Thursday and Friday: Meat Puppets, Dinosaur Jr., and Built to Spill. I was at the show on Friday and much to my disappointment I missed the Meat Puppets who went on at 7:30 p.m. I did see all of Dinosaur Jr.’s set, who were excellent. But the real thrill for me was seeing Built to Spill perform their seminal album Perfect From Now On. They played the album all the way through with excellent jams and Doug Martsch wailing perfectly. After they finished they played a few more favorites, like “The Plan” and “Carry the Zero.” The best part of the night was when J. Mascis of Dinosaur Jr. and members of the Meat Puppets came out on stage to play with Built to Spill for almost 30 minutes. They all seemed to be enjoying themeselves immensely, especially the Meat Puppet boys who were joking around a lot. Not sure what happened to Lou Barlow…I guess he had to head out early. Lots more photos after the jump.
