今年赛季经过了五个分站，Renault车手Fernando Alonso奋战不懈的精神感动了许多车迷，相较于队友Nelson Piquet Jr.始终未能拿出够水平的演出，Renault车队谨慎地对他发出警告。Nelson Piquet Jr.今年加入Renault车队展开他的F1生涯，但赛季开赛至今五个分站，却有四个分站以退赛收场，土耳其站则是落入后排名次。Renault车队赛事部门总监Steve Nelson近日则是在官方影音网站中表示，Nelson Piquet Jr.目前正遇见像去年Heikki Kovalainen一样的问题。

「这是他加入F1的第一年，显然就像去年的Heikki Kovalainen一样，开始的表现总是荒腔走板。但既然后来的Heikki Kovalainen可以力挽狂潮，我相信Nelson Piquet Jr.应该也可以的。」Steve Nelson如此表示：「Nelson Piquet Jr.在西班牙其实表现不错，排位赛也有所作为，只可惜后来还是失误了。这样对他来说也许多了些经验，有好有坏，但他必须让好的更多才行，必须赶紧拿出看家本事，F1是一门杀头的生意，他如果继续搞砸，恐怕就只能上断头台了。」
