Regardless, if you set that amount of money aside tomorrow, May 14th, and donate it to City Harvest's Skip Lunch, Fight Hunger campaign, you can make a difference in the lives of hungry New Yorkers.
That $5 you'd ordinarily spend on two slices of pizza can help feed four children for a week and you don't actually need to skip lunch to help out! You can help, even with a small donation. Make a tax-deductible donation online here. According to City Harvest, 1.5 million New Yorkers currently live in poverty, struggling to afford basic necessities including buying good for themselves and family--and more than one million will rely on emergency food at some point during the year. Last year's campaign raised more than $460,000 in a single day and the City Harvest Team is shooting for $500,000 or beyond this year.
