I have found this great tool that is not just an ordinary word processor but also has a project management tool. It is called Scrivener developed by Literature & Latte Ltd. (which is not a software company though). Shocked? Yes, it is not a software company but developed by an individual named Keith Blount (please refer to his LinkedIn account). And a really private person as he claim in his website.

Scrivener is a word processor and project management tool created specifically for writers of long texts such as novels and research papers. It won’t try to tell you how to write - it just makes all the tools you have scattered around your desk available in one application.

Here are some of its key features:

  1. Edit Multiple Documents
Create limitless documents in the same project and edit them separately or merge them dynamically and edit them as a whole.
  2. Corkboard
Virtual index cards store a synopsis for every document you create. Storyboard and rearrange your project by moving them around on the corkboard.
  3. Outlining
A fully-featured outliner helps you take control of the structure of your work.
  4. Keywords
Use a powerful keywords system to keep track of characters, themes or ideas.
  5. Full Screen Editing
View your text in full screen for distraction-free composition.
  6. Export
Export your finished draft to your favorite word processor for final formatting, including support for footnotes, annotations and images.

There are lots of testimonials to check out for you to see what people are saying about this great software. Also, check out their website for more in-depth product details. It offers 30-day trial period and can purchase the licensed version for $39.95. Please take note that this tool works only for Mac OS X and is not compatible with Windows.
