We have seen great innovations and updates and upgrades in most of our Office Suites, whether be it of web-based or desktop type. Google Docs got spreadsheets and some updates with Google Apps, Microsoft has now Office Live, OpenOffice.org got updated, Adobe takes Buzzword, Zoho Online got many updates and even getting into Facebook Apps, Microsoft Office of course leads the way with many updates and upgrades, and of course Live Documents which received many reviews and speculations. Well, there are lots of Adds-in and plug-in tools for some Office Suites to make it more productive, you can browse our archive to check some.
As you have noticed, the title sounds like I am a fortune-teller but I’m not. I am here to give some predictions based on my experiences of what we can expect this 2008. Of course, it’s another year for developing and updating.
It is too early to say something. But for sure, there are still updates and upgrades to our favorite Office Suites to cope-up with the trend. Many Office Suites will go for Software as a service (SaaS) approach as it is already seen in the late months of 2007. Not only Office Suites but even other softwares which can be brought online. The thing here is what business-model will software companies adopt? I do not know but there is a great business opportunity here as many users are onto web-centric tools nowadays. Users like it portable, secured, free, easy to share, easy to manage, and accessible anytime, anywhere. That is the trend. Also, some new comers will emerge in the Office Suites industry and adopts the web 2.0 approach, it will be web-based and sharable.
We’ll see then what’s in-store for Office Suites this 2008. OfficeTweaks will keep you posted. ;)
