Purcell的歌剧《亚瑟王（King Arthur）》

所以这部歌剧给人的感觉（或许这里用“所以”并不合适）并不十分雄浑，也不是非辽远悲切，虽然歌剧用五个部分描述了亚瑟王近一生的传奇。大约凯尔特的风格在这里并不明显，更多的是一种宫廷中让贵族们适度娱乐的音乐吧。歌剧把亚瑟王与梅林的或战或和，与萨克逊人的战争，以很“评书”的方式来展现。

btw，歌剧的主角，其实在其中市没有什么唱词的，情节总是通过一种半旁白的方式来展现的(比如亚瑟王其实一句也没唱，倒是venus，cupid，thor之类的各派神灵占了很多戏份)。而演奏的形式，则以演唱为主，而乐器的演奏则是衬托为主。
