I don’t normally plug music, movies or books here in TAM, however I’ll make an exception for this case. For those of you who aren’t familiar with “The Last Lecture”, this was a talk given by Prof. Randy Pausch of the Carnegie Melon University.
It’s been a tradition for the school’s professors to give a hypothetical last lecture. In Prof. Pausch’s case it wasn’t hypothetical. He has been diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer and was only given a few months to live. He gave his last lecture and the theme was about achieving your childhood dreams. But in the end it wasn’t really about your childhood dreams rather it was about how to live your life.
Instead of giving a talk about dying, he gave a talk about living. Honestly it was one of the most inspiring speeches I’ve heard in my life. I’m already an optimistic person and have heard a lot of inspiring people but this one is up there.
I downloaded the audio book and currently listening to it. I’d suggest you watch the actual lecture. Here’s the link to the video. After which, go buy the book or audio book and be inspired.
