Discovering Visual Intelligence Strengths at Work

Translate Into:

Could your firm benefit from more visual spatial intelligence?

For some time now neuroscience discoveries have shown why we do not learn well through words or lectures. Too often ... multiple intelligences simply sit idle when words alone are used to direct learning. After time … because of little use … we fail to see the power of the human brain to learn more in less time - through visualization. It doesn’t have to be that wtufts-4k-newpersp.pngay.

Research at Tufts University …  shows how visual technology enables brains to learn in new ways. More specifically … researchers have figured out how to translate abstract, complex scientific concepts into accurate and understandable 3-dimensional images in ways that conventional visualization systems cannot create.

Check out Tufts' new 14-foot by 8-foot visualization display … that offers a combination of advanced features which will further Tufts' research and educational programs in diverse disciplines, from mathematics and physics to human factors engineering, and even drama and dance.

It’s no secret that we have barely touched the extraordinary capacity of the brain to learn through visuals. Now … users will be able to manipulate, simulate, touch and literally immerse themselves in data in a way they never have been able to before, according to researcher, Amelia Tynan.

The new visualization display at Tufts … features a high resolution display system that uses rear projection to show more detail in a realistic way. Compared to traditional systems that rely on several projectors at once,  or tiled screens to display images … Tufts' single screen has close to 9 megapixels resolution (4,096 x 2,169 pixels) and two projectors (with overlapping fields of projection) to create high- resolution images and animation.

Could your workplace use 3-D images -- that appear realistic? The Tufts system also combines the sense of touch with that of sight. This integration occurs through haptic devices that convey varying levels of resistance to the user when he or she touches graphical objects on the display wall.

Simply put ... technology can now create virtual environments, where simulations can be physically manipulated and transformed. Check out the many uses and implications of this study, and  see if your firm could benefit from technology that engages multiple intelligences – especially visual – spatial intelligence to engage clients and employees in interesting new ways. What do you think?
