Clearspring has been cranking out new features for its widget services, especially on the advertising end, in an effort to make them more attractive to more brands across a variety of use-cases. In doing so, the need for metrics and other functional capabilities has been a growing concern for the widget maker. So Clearspring has decided to team up with ScanScout, an online video advertising firm that’s quickly growing its client base.
Having just signed the BBE last week, and running video ads for a number of television broadcasters, ScanScout is emerging as a viable alternative to the pre- and post-roll ads that have been the standard for online video advertising in the past several months.
In teaming up with Clearspring, ScanScout will be providing widget video ads from the ScanScout network, across more than 25 social media platforms. Videos have been widgetized for some time now, and more than popularized by none other than YouTube. Video ad widgets, however, are still slightly new territory for all parties involved, but the exploration across platforms and marketing methods is necessary and could usher in some new standards for running web campaigns.
As I mentioned earlier, the metrics and ability to measure user engagement for such campaigns is necessary to their evolution, especially when it comes to widget ads, so we’ll see what the results of the new partnership bring about, and how advertisers feel about the new options for spreading video ads across the web.
