the NY Giants wide receiver who shot himself in the leg by accident and got himself suspended - will be taking 30% of all headline real estate. I expect at least 3 Lettermen Top Ten lists about him, 2 Conan O'Brien bits, a more Daily Show segments covering his newsmaking. And while questions get sorted out about why he had a gun in his sweatpants/holster (same thing), a question for the internets is burning: Will Burress' name be the
new term for FAIL? Thinking I was surely days old on this theory, I clicked over to the sanctuary of holy internet language,
Urban Dictionary, and was surprised to find that the only definition associated with the name Plaxico was a verb meaning to snag a pass from someone due to your size over theirs.
Surely, this will change soon.
Because for whatever reason, bringing a gun into a nightclub and misfiring into your own leg is an act that could cement your name into the halls of culture as a term for blowing it pretty big.....like shooting yourself in the leg in a nightclub. For instance, you are showing off in your neighborhood, being reckless and nonchalant with your car as it rolls on in neutral, trying to
"ghost ride the whip" as they say and BAM!!! You hit a telephone pole. Minimally hurt, but now your car is totaled. And you just
PLAXICO BURRESSED your car!! Or you're showing off in the office on the nerf goal, you go to dunk the ball, slip, fall onto another co-worker, break the office chair, and awkwardly grope your cubicle mate trying to get up.
PLAXICOOOOOOOO!! SOMEONE JUST GOT PLAXICO'D!!! All I'm sayin' is...it could work.
