It is mid-December and High School Seniors are starting to apply to various colleges. The prices of college are rising.

Some people are not even trying because they know that their families will not have enough money for them to go. Where are our tax dollars going? How will our future expand if the prices for college are too high for our educational purposes? Say a girl gets a $5000 Leadership Scholarship to Converse College but still has to pay $38000 a year. What is she going to do? Probably not go to college right? It seems like we are not running a Democracy anymore. We are running an "Idiocracy"! Our money should be going towards a higher education for the kids of the future, not more buildings, roads, or anything of that sort.

Our SAT and ACT scores are rapidly decreasing and our country wants to know why. The High School drop out rate is increasing and still our country wants to know why. “It's (school) a total waste of time, if you aren't rich and can't afford college,” says 16 year old Latoya. “Why should I waste my time on it?” Where are America's kids going if they aren't in school? Many have seen the teen pregnancy rates and the teen drug abuse rates but what can we do about it if we don't have the money to educate them? 26% to 32% are getting pregnant. 32.3% to 52.8% are abusing drugs. What can we do?

We can speak out, ask questions, and we can try our best to change it! I believe in No Child Left Behind!
