I gained a lot from a share meeting of demand collecting held last afternoon. So here I want to show my point of view on demand.
Actually, our UED department is mainly focus on the handling of demand from each department, nevertheless, sometimes conduct as a demander. Maybe most of times we feel like we didn’t make a deep exploration and analysis on the demand, what we do most is just to respond and handle it as soon as possible. However, we always find needs of modification and alteration on some demands and page layouts. What should we do then?
1. Acquainted yourself with the demander
The inside of the company, your boss and customers are all likely to be your demanders. However, is there any priority when dealing with it? Boss>departments of the company>customers
The real demand of the user was laid on the bottom, while most times the priority was given to the interior customers. Whether you arrange your demands at your hand like this or not?
2. Explore your demands
Any demand has background and source, while many times when we deal with it we ignore it. May be for time limit? Or short of resources? All these can cause ignorance, and perhaps this ignorance creates the outflow of constant demands. Only explore the hidden cause of the demand can it be solved.
3. Program your demands
I realize that the methods how architects deal with demands after chat with them, that is systematic and overall planning of the demands, which makes lesser influence on the lower program system. Then is it necessary for UED department? The answer is definitely. If you want to be freedom from handling demands every day, a good demand program will help you cope with various demands that changing every day.
4. Manage your demands
There are many management soft wares, like the Rational Portfolio Manager of IBM which functions powerfully. For a demand management soft ware can enable you notice and plan your information of demands, source, frequency etc. more clearly.
