It’s the movie franchise that will continue on into infinity. The first theatrical trailer for the animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars will premiere on multiple Turner Networks Thursday, May 8 (yep, that’s tomorrow). The Cartoon Network, TNT, TBS, CNN, and Boomerang will showcase the newest Star Wars adventure at 7:58 p.m. The two-minute preview of the animated adventure from creator George Lucas will debut in theaters, May 9, along with the first poster for the movie (see pic). More after the jump… Opening in theaters August 15, 2008, the movie brings back favorite characters like Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Padmé Amidala, along with brand-new heroes like Anakin’s padawan learner, Ahsoka. Sinister villains — led by Palpatine, Count Dooku and General Grievous — will, of course, continue their quest to rule the galaxy. The theatrical release of Star Wars: The Clone Wars tells an all-new story that leads directly into the fall premiere of a weekly, animated “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” series on Cartoon Network, followed by airings on TNT. I picture a theater crowded with tween- and teen-aged boys. And me, of course. Image: Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Warner Bros.
