 In late December 20106, former Yankee and current YES announcer Bobby Murcer was diagnosed with brain cancer.
Recently, a new MRI image revealed only a scar tissue and not a recurrence of cancer. Well, that’s really good news, right? There had been differing opinions among doctors about the meaning of the MRI, so as a precaution they scheduled a biopsy for Monday. Murcer had to wait two days for the official word. “We received great news this morning,” he said in a statement issued by YES. “The biopsy revealed scar tissue. It showed no signs of cancer. We are very excited about this news. It’s what we had hoped for all along.”
Bobby Murcer was a professional baseball player for 17 seasons. He played for the New York Yankees, San Francisco Giants, Chicago Cubs and back again briefly for the New York Yankees.
