Reader Jeremy shares his gorgeous and functional workspace in our Workspace Show and Tell Flickr photo group. He's rocking three monitors and two operating systems, and instead of buying a desk he opted to build one that seats himself and his wife. After the jump, get a short photo tour of Jeremy's setup.

I work from home as a freelance web developer and programmer. This is the current iteration of my workspace, 3 monitors, 3 computers, Windows & Ubuntu platforms. It's all tied together with a KVM, UltraMon and Synergy. I chose a wireless keyboard & mouse and also mounted the speakers up off of the desk to keep it a little less cluttered. When I need the desk surface for writing, the keyboard and mouse hide away under the monitor shelf.
Multiple monitors are a must. The 21" Samsung (Left) and 24" LG (Center) are connected to my XP Pro workstation. The 17" MGC (Right) is connected via KVM to my Ubuntu 8.04 box and Windows 2003 test server. 99% of the time this monitor is on the Ubuntu box which I use for email, IM, listening to music and other stuff I want to keep off of my development machine. Synergy is used to share the mouse/keyboard between the Ubuntu and XP machines. Down below is a custom made foot rest mated to a Klipsch subwoofer, though there is usually a cat on this so I don't get to use it much. The other speakers are mounted to the bottom of the floating shelf to keep the desk a bit less cluttered.
Having searched for an affordable desk at Ikea and other furniture stores, I decided to custom build my own. The floating shelves and drawer units are from Ikea, as is the under-desk cable management.
The surface is stain grade oak ply (2 sheets total) reinforced on the underside by inexpensive pine boards around the perimeter. The desk it trimmed out in oak staircase molding and sits on 8 Ikea desk legs and 1 Ikea shelving unit at the center. Total cost for this project was < $500 and accommodates both my wife's and my workstations.
