Antes de que Bad Astronomy Blog Feed RSS se convirtiera en un blog Phil Plait ya se dedicaba a publicar artículos en su web acerca de errores que iba encontrando en los medios de comunicación, películas, televisión y la cultura popular, páginas que aún se pueden encontrar en Phil Plait's Bad Astronomy: The Bad Pages.

A partir de este material, aunque tratado en más profundidad, escribió este libro en el que aclara cosas que van desde por qué el cielo es azul al rumor de que los astronautas del programa Apollo nunca pisaron la Luna, pasando por la influencia de esta en mareas y embarazos, qué es lo que produce las fases lunares (no es la sombra de a Tierra, por cierto), o el creacionismo y a modo de bonus extra al final del libro hay una serie de recomendaciones para leer más, tanto en forma de otros libros como de webs recomendadas.

Como suele suceder en estos casos si te interesa el tema seguro que encuentras el libro muy entretenido e ilustrativo, además de que está escrito en un tono muy desenfadado pero no por ello menos riguroso, y seguro que te llevas más de una sorpresa respecto a cosas que creías saber.

Si discutes de vez en cuando con cospiranoicos y/o magufos, también encontrarás material para sostener tus argumentos en los capítulos al respecto, aunque el escudo anti-lógica que posee este tipo de personas probablemente hará que no te sirvan de nada, pero eso es algo de lo que ni este autor ni ningún libro tienen la culpa.

La editorial mantiene en línea el índice del libro y un PDF del primer capítulo [721 Kb] por si quieres echarles un ojo antes de decidirte a comprarlo o no, pero para mi es un libro muy recomendable.
