En ZDNet han publicado Annoying software: a rogues’ gallery que es una recopilación visual del software de las últimas décadas que resulta irritanemente «molesto» por diversas razones, incluyendo que se intenta autoinstalar, te cambia la configuración del equipo, te insistetodo el rato para que pagues actualizaciones, te lanza avisos alarmistas o resulta excesivamente intrusivo. Lo que viene siendo software porculero, vamos. En la lista preparada por los editores están míticos plastas como Real Player, el motor de Java, la barra de navegador de Yahoo, el Antivirus Norton, Windows Update y las diversas encarnaciones de Flash, además de todo el software basura presintalado que traen algunos equipos. También tienen su lugar (aunque a mi esos no me parecen tan porculeros, sino más bien útiles) el auto-update de Apple, Adobe Reader y y Outlook/Exchange para Windows. Mi lista personal al respecto estaría encabezada en un empate entre el histérico de Norton Antivirus para Windows (o todo Windows, en general) y Real Player. El Norton me arrepiento de haberlo instalado a algunos conocidos/familiares que usan Windows porque viven en un sinvivir desde entonces y Real Player, del cual desistí hace siglos por aburrimiento; con VLC se puede hacer básicamente lo mismo y es mucho más ligero y razonable.
