If you’re bored of all the things to do in San Francisco, you might want to head out to Vallejo. There’s a new baby camel in town, and word on the street is that the little bugger is darn cute. Photo credit & copyrights - NBC Universal, Inc

Sarah Rohrs, Times Herald staff writer, reports on the 3 month old Bactrian Camel with two humps, standing tall at 5-feet and over 230 pounds, who came to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo, CA in late April from the Tautphaus Park & Zoo in Idaho Falls.

During his debut, the baby camel nuzzled animal supervisor Tracy Kotyluk-Clark inside a shady portion of the park while visitors and photographers ogled him. At one point he got nose to nose with a camera lens, giving a small crowd a close-up of his inquisitive dark eyes and long eye lashes. Later, he drank eagerly from a gallon bottle of formula designed for animals. When he had enough to drink, he stepped back and shook his head vigorously, spraying Kotyluk-Clark and park spokesman Lee Munro with white drops.  - Park seeks help naming new camel, Sarah Rohrs, Times Herald staff writer, June 12 2008.

Like the article says, they’re holding a naming competition, details of which you can find at the bottom of the page on the Times Herald link above. Winner gets four tickets to Six Flags and a camel toy. Has to be an Asian name. Otherwise I woulda suggested Lawrence of Arabia….
