In 1927, the KMT launched April-12 Counterrevolutionary coup and frantically massacred Chinese communists. To protect the offspring of the revolutionists, the central committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) decided to send some martyrs’ orphans and children of the Chinese communist leaders to the International Children’s Home in the Soviet Union for study via Manchuria. Among them were Mao Anying, Mao Anqing, Li Min,Mao Zedong’s children, Liu Shaoqi’s children Liu Yunbin, Liu Aiqin and Zhu De’s daughter Zhu Min.
In the Soviet Union, they lived and studied with children of different races and languages. There they received systematic education and were greatly influenced by the belief of communism and collectivism and they also experienced cold and hunger, torture of injuries as well as wars. Then they returned to the motherland by way of Manchuria and dedicated themselves to their motherland where their ancestors shed blood and sacrificed their lives. During the Great Cultural Revolution from 1966 to 1976, they were persecuted and tortured, but they survived the catastrophe due to their strong belief in communism and their boundless loyalty to the Communist Party of China.( CPC ). They made great contributions to China’s revolution and construction cause at their posts.
