The holidays are upon as and the kids are out of school looking for some ways to stay entertained on cold and blustery days when they can't go outside. This would be a great time to have a special family night of fun and games centered around the theme of good, old Santa Claus. With his jolly big belly and dancing brown eyes, he's sure to be amused by your family's antics. If he weren't so busy at the North Pole, I'm sure he's like to join in the fun. Here are some Santa Claus games to play around the Christmas tree:
Santa Scrabble
Pop some popcorn. While you're munching on your hot buttered popcorn, pass around some blank note pads and pencils. Challenge everyone in your group to come up with as many words as they can in five minutes using the letters of the name “Santa Claus”. If you'd like another round, try to come up with words with the letters of the name “Rudolph”. Be sure to have a dictionary on hand. There's sure to be arguments about whether a word really exists.
Santa Claus Sing Out
Gather around the fire and enjoy the warmth as you play this lively game. One person starts by singing a song about Santa Claus. As soon as that person stops singing, he or she points to another member of the group who must then sing a Santa Claus themed song. If the person can't come up with a song, he or she is out .Continue until there's only one person left who's declared the winner.
Find Santa's Costume
Buy a Santa Claus costume from a craft or costume store. Hide pieces of the costume throughout your house including Santa's pants, jacket, gloves, boots, his glasses, his beard etc. Challenge your family to find the pieces. Whoever finds the most pieces is declared the winner.
Musical Christmas Stockings
Fill a variety of Christmas stockings full of small Christmas treats. Put on some old fashioned Christmas music. Have everyone gather in a circle with each person holding a Christmas stocking. Start playing Christmas music. As the Christmas music is playing, pass the stockings from person to person in a circle. When the Christmas music stops, each person will be left holding a stocking which becomes theirs. Watch the fun as each person opens his or her Christmas stocking.
