Estelle continues her transformation from British wannabe to American diva with this, her new single entitled No Substitute Love. And as a British guy, I already feel like we’ve lost her to the talent-stealing yanks (no offence). Not that that is necessarily a bad thing, as she is sure to have a much more successful career over in the states than the one she enjoyed a few years ago over here, but it is kind of sad to see home-grown talent moving on.  The first thing you notice about No Substitute Love are the samples, with George Michael’s Faith and Lindon Roberts’ Substitute Lover both used as source material quite extensively. The video is pretty uninspiring, not coming anywhere close to copying the gem that was American Boy. However, the cameos intended to give Estelle some brownie points with Americans continue, this time with Kelly Rowland making a brief appearance. This song is catchy but I can’t fathom how it seems to be doing better than American Boy did. Compared to the Kanye West collaboration this just feels boring and a tad lazy. Song: 6/10
