A lot of women may question the reason so many brothas are fleeing to the white side of the playing field, or in other words, choosing white women over black women. If you want to level the playing field, you've got to be in it to win it.
So many educated black women make the mistake of putting their career before their man, blowing him off for things they claim are more “important” than their man. You've got to make time for him, show him that you love him and that you care. You have to make sure he knows you want to be with him. Put in the time and effort, even if you've worked all day and it will pay off.
Make him feel like your Nubian King. Praise him and never let him think you're smarter than he is. A man feels empowered when he thinks he has all the answers. Don't belittle him and make him feel dumb. Try to agree with him as much as possible, even if he may be dead wrong! And you know that happens often!
Don't make a big scene and fall out when things don't go right. There's nothing a brotha hates more than a sistah who shows her color. Even though you have a right to act and feel black, there is a time and place for everything. And there are right ways to “act black.” For instance, you could read a book by Malcolm X, or go see a Broadway production of the Color Purple. You could even rent Roots and watch it in your Kente cloth. But don't go acting all ghetto on him! As I said before, there's nothing a man hates more.
One thing that white women do for their man that many black women don't is support him in each and every one of his endeavors. And that's a major area black women fall short. You've got to support your man, stand behind him and let him know you've always got his back. Like they say, behind every good man is a good woman. Keep him stable and you'll ensure longevity for your relationship.
Last but not least, always look and dress your best. Keep him wanting more. Keep things fresh and exciting. A bored man will wander and once he's too far gone, there's barely any hope of getting him back. Once a man gets a taste of something good, he doesn't want to leave it alone. So, make sure you're always enticing, alluring and captivating. You've got to be a pleasant sight to look at and something he can show off. Even if you don't want to be treated like arm candy, at least look good enough to be arm candy.
