Peggy very nicely deals with the animal aspects of Tree Hugging Family, because frankly, I’m just not the biggest animal fan ever. That said, I don’t want to see animals go extinct either. Since it’s hug an animal day here, I thought I’d suggest one small tip to help preserve wildlife - don’t feed animals in nature.

I know, it’s way fun to feed the ducks and even to pack your pocket full of nuts for squirrels and chipmunks but anytime you feed an animal in the wild, you make it that much harder for them to survive. When we feed animals they start to rely on humans, and when animals start to rely on humans they no longer attempt proper food gathering themselves. Also, the food we give them is not always appropriate and may make them sick or expose them to germs to which they have no immunity. We can help to save natural habitats by not feeding any animals; including furry creatures, birds, and fish.
It’s fine to look. In fact I highly suggest you and the kiddos get out there and see nature - including all the animals. Just save your lunch for your own wild family.
