If our recent Laptop bag bonanza - Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3 - has left you dizzy with choices, here's a suggestion: check out Career Bags. With the exception of the Zegari, they sell all the bags we've previewed, including Abbi New York, Casauri, Diane Von Furstenburg, and McKlein, and have the best stock of anyone on the web, including this beautiful red GOLLA bag from Finland.
The self-made executive and owner of Career Bags, Ellen Hart, echoed the other women we talked to when she told us, "I originally designed business cases for women in 1989 because they didn't exist." The modest entrepreneur doesn't volunteer at first that she designed the Veronica London, a very popular handbag design that she sold to Hartman luggage and still sells on her site.

"I thought about three different archetypes as far as personal style: classic; funky, chic and cool; and casual. My goal: to help every woman bring out her personal style in her business life."
Besides the extensive inventory, there's a handy feature on her website called Try This Bag On - by entering your height and product dimensions, you can get a feel for what the bag will look like on you so that you can avoid the dreaded "Is that luggage or your handbag?" question. For fun, there's an entertaining blog (I know, I know, everyone has a blog these days) but it's fun and gives good tips on how to choose the right bag.
Enterprising Ellen also came up with the idea of creating a collection of business and personal products made from Baseball Glove leather when her daughter lost her favorite baseball mitt.
"I don't even like baseball but I loved that glove and all of the memories that went along with it so I designed a line made out of Baseball Glove leather so that people could "take their memories to work." She called Rawlings and now they offer wallets, luggage, and laptop bags in either buttery smooth leather or "casual pebble grain." ( I've already bought the classic leather wallet for Father's Day, and am pondering the leather Travel Kit, otherwise known as a dopp kit.)
To win the gorgeous red "Dance" Golla laptop bag pictured above, make sure you've signed up for our emails, then look for contest details in the next Popgadget Drop email. We'll be asking you to tell us your most embarrassing business moment. To get you started, here is Ellen's tale:
Many moons ago, I was fed up with the standard boring, black briefcase and decided to take matters into my own hands. I had a women's business case made just for me. It was pink. It was also faux-alligator skin (don't judge me now - I'm from Texas and it was the '80s). I took my pink bag to an important client meeting and when I opened it to retrieve my files, a tampon flew out and skittered across the boardroom table. My client politely handed my tampon back; I cracked a joke and the meeting went on, but that moment stayed with me, as only a flying tampon moment will.
