I’ve reviewed one video by The Futureheads before, their biggest single to date and reworking of a Kate Bush classic, Hounds Of Love, but here is another to celebrate me going to see them live tomorrow in Manchester.
For the initiated, The Futureheads are one of the best, if not the best alternative Indie band in the UK at the moment. However, unlike bands such as Arctic Monkeys and The Fratellis, they have remained slightly underground.
Unfortunately being underground and remaining true to your roots means you can also fail to break through and gain widespread acceptance so The Futureheads haven’t really succeeded sales-wise despite having a hardcore group of fans.
Radio Heart is the second single to be released from new album This Is Not The World which is being released tomorrow to coincide with the current tour.
The song is as catchy as hell, with a chorus which immediately sticks in the brain. It won’t be to everyone’s taste, and the English north-east accents will be hard for some to understand. For me though, it’s a brilliant 3 minute Indie Pop song.
The video is quite simple in idea, with The Futureheads playing over the radio airwaves, and telling the story of a guy looking for love over the wireless - a girl with a radio heart.
Song: 8/10
Video: 7/10
