For many MMO bloggers just starting within the last year, there are quite a few blogs that have had a huge impact on teaching people many helpful tips and offering very sound advice in the business of making money online with a blog.
However, the old saying, “A day late and a dollar short” is very true for many new MMO bloggers who have engaged into this blogosphere circus I call the “Make Money Online Niche.” The reason being is very simple. Many of the leading bloggers of within the last few years ago, no longer focus and publish content related to their original topic, that of course covering the topic of teaching people how to make money online.
Time has an interesting effect on things. As the days, weeks, months and years go by and more and more people become interested in blogging and making money online with a blog, the number of people who perceive of older generation MMO bloggers as MMO leaders have declined. A once been “learn how to make money online with John Chow” is now slowly rebranding and remolding with a new image as being just a simple and nice guy blogger, and an all around average joe.

Commonly today, you’ll find a heavier concentration of articles on John Chow dot Com that spin off more information about the personal life of John Chow, rather than finding content related to him teaching people how to make money online, which was commonly found almost on a daily basis just only two years ago. Paying regular visits to John Chow dot Com today, you’ll find yourself learning more about his daughter Sally or the gossip and tech talk surrounding his friends at lunch in his new video blog series, Dot Com Pho.
Dot Com Pho is a recent movement away from John Chow’s famous make money online bit. This is a weekly video blog series that features John Chow and friends who gossip about a variety of topics and review some of the latest releases on tech gadgets.
While the series has sparked a moderate level of interest - averaging around 1000 view each week - it goes to prove that John Chow indeed is migrating away from his grass roots of blogging about making money online. Many believe that is dot Com Make Money Online reign came to an abrupt end when Google, Inc. decided to pull the plug on his superior rankings in their organic search engine late June of 2007.
“Google hasn’t been too happy with Mr. Chow’s link building campaign… John’s blog is essentially about making money online, but he sets a very bad example for his audience…Bloggers should learn from John’s mistake and not try to bite the hand that feeds them.”
- Chris Hemphill on Why We Rank #1 For John Chow
So how does a blogger who has been newly introduced to the world of making money online with a blog find the hidden treasures found on John Chow dot Com? What many bloggers of all levels of experience commonly fail to realize is that content found of blogs typically hold a moderately long shelf live despite being buried off the home page.
In the world of blogging, once content drops off the home page it’s old news and commonly new bloggers don’t venture too deeply into the archives of many of the more successful blogs such as John Chow dot Com.
One of the best ways a blogger who has an interest in learning how to make money online with a blog can learn about the business is by actually reading John Chow dot Com backwards.

There was once a day when John Chow was all about helping bloggers learn the business of making money online. Fortunately, the archives of John Chow dot Com are are still available for new bloggers just starting out and even older and more seasoned bloggers who need a refresher course in the business.
While John Chow doesn’t actively provide much support for the MMO niche, the content he has written in the past is priceless and available for your to read anytime you want. Many believe that once blog content reaches the archives that it becomes stale and outdated.
While this can be true to some extent, you’ll find that a lot of the articles found in the archives of John Chow dot Com will prove to be very helpful. Ultimately, I recommend reading John Chow dot Com starting from the beginning and working your way to the end, rather than read his most recent articles first.
This of course, is opposite of how blogs are normally read, but then again, you’re aiming to learn the business of making money online with a blog and it’s not your goal to follow John Chow as if he were a common celebrity icon.

You can do this simply by visiting www.google.com and typing in, site:johnchow.com “keywords” and pressing the search button.

Even though individuals such as John Chow are steering away from their founding topic of teaching people how to make money online, the previously written information is still there. Perhaps, John Chow is moving away from the topic of writing about teaching others about making money online because he has covered all the bases already?
Another theory would be that John Chow has never rebound from losing his rankings in Google and things haven’t been the same since early spring of 2007.
