I have some exciting news I’ve been meaning to share and somehow forgot. Last Monday, when I posted about my Open That Bottle Night party, I also sent an e-mail about it to John and Dottie, who created the event. I told them how it was my second OTBN and how I was much more prepared (and almost overly enthusiastic) for this one. I also mentioned how BK had come to the first one when we hardly knew each other and how though I once envied their relationship, now I feel lucky to have my own where love for wine plays a major role.
And they wrote back! Rather quickly….to thank me for my story and remark on my happy ending. Plus, they commented on their recent tasting of a semi-sweet sparkling from Moldova (though they didn’t say it reminded them of gasoline-soaked peaches as ours did me) and ended with other good wishes. I have to admit, I did a little internal cheer when I read it. There’s just something satisfying about finding out that “internationally renowned journalists” who are well-known and recognized by many for their wine savvy are simply nice people!
And for a girl who has not-so-secret hopes of one day making it as a wine writer, it’s encouraging to find out that your heroes’ pedestals aren’t out of reach.
Cheers!
