Pakatan Rakyat: Finally, it will be BN vs PR [The Kuala Lumpur Traveler]

Translate Into:

Pakatan Rakyat top gunsTop leaders of opposition parties - multiracial PKR, pre-dominantly Chinese DAP and Islamic-based PAS - today announced that they have agreed to form a new coalition called Pakatan Rakyat or People’s Alliance.

At a joint press conference this morning, PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim said the leaders will now take the proposal back to their respective parties for approval.

Anwar, who was flanked by DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang and PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang, said that the People’s Alliance will hold its maiden conference after the proposal has been endorsed by all three parties.

Finally, the day where there will be one to one fight has arrived in Malaysian elections. It will be BN vs PR. No more BN vs PKR, or BN vs PAS or BN vs DAP…. or even BN vs DAP vs PAS that happened in the 11th general election where all opposition parties lost badly. At that time PAS was harping on its Islamic state agenda while DAP was busy bashing PAS instead of BN… never mind PKR whatever it was doing.

The 12th general election saw one-to-one fight between BN and PKR, or DAP or PAS… but it is now over. When PR coalition comes up with its own symbol, the future election banners will be just one banner… Pakatan Rakyat banner.

Just a friendly and gentle reminder to Kit Siang, Hadi and Anwar… please do not ever.. ever again… argue with each other over petty issues that make the people sick. The PR coalition must only have one and only objective… and that is to fulfill the people’s wish. The wish of collective Malaysians made up of multiracial and multicultural citizens… not the wish of any particular race Indian, Malay or Chinese. Neither the wish of any component party PAS, PKR or DAP. Not even the wish of any particular religious group Islam, Christian, Buddism or whatever. I am sure the three trusted leaders know what we mean.

I wish all the very best to the new Pakatan Rakyat. Congratulation!!!
