1. How can you be so stupid! Be careful about those extreme words like stupid, foolish, and silly.
Reason: Don't get the idea that children won't mind the words woulding their pride. They are apt to lose their confidence and to hate the one scolding.
2. You can't watch TV!
Reason: TV is not the root of all evils. The point lies in the content, the manner as well as the schedule. A good parent never implement "one size fits all" approaches.
3. I really feel humiliated at your poor scores!
Reason: No kids like poor scores and they must feel sad about that. It's really obnoxious for parents to have their kids sudy for their own faces.
4. Who is calling there?
Reason: Respect children's basic privacy. Don't step up your children like paparazzis. Your trust will win your kids' appreciation, which can gurantee good communication.
5. Hurry up your winter holiday tasks.
Reason: Holiday is set aside for recreation. Unfortunately, the examination-oriented education has distorted the common sense. You cannot get fat on one mouthful. So, let your kids handle the holiday tasks step by step.
6. Don't go off skylarking.
Reson: Going out need not mean skylarking. If possible, it is a good idea for you to take kids to go out for a trip, providing a chance to "go off skylarking" together.
7. How come you did so bad in the exam? Look at Jack. He is among the first three but still studies hard. Don't you get down to your studies with so poor marks?
Reason: Imagine your child says,"how come you earn so little? Look at Jack's daddy. He picks Jack up with a BMW". Isn't it possible you may get depressed and feel stressed? If your wife hints to you now and then,"her spouse is so romantic! He often brings her flowers", is it possible you reply with "okay, go and marry him"? Like adults, kids don't like to be compared with others. Comparing can only make kids feel you don't love him(her). So, stop comparing.
