As we creep ever closer to the clock striking twelve and the big ball dropping in Times Square in New York, I thought it would be fun to share with you all the DUMBEST NEWS STORIES OF 2007!!!
How are these stories decided, you ask? Well, by you the readers. That’s right, over the last 12 months you all have voted with your mouse clicks and made some posts on this this blog much more popular than the rest. To be honest, many of the stories aren’t even from 2007, but some posts simply get more popular as time goes on and they crawl up the search engines. If you’ve got a better idea how to do this for next year, please do let me know. ;-)
So here it is, counting down from 10… that is, after the jump:
10. Girls Kicked Out of School for Costumes:
In this story, three high school girls are booted from classes for the day for dressing up on their school’s superhero day as Captain Underpants. The principal was quite upset at their mock-revealing attire. They were punished.
9. 57 Percent of College Girls Want to Sleep With Angelina Jolie:
…And 600% of college guys want to watch. Yes, I know that’s mathematically impossible but you get my drift. This 2005 Playboy article noted that while many college girls do want to have sex with Angelina, only 26% are interested in Justin Timberlake, 23% in either Britney Spears (this must no longer be the case) or Usher, 20% for Adam Brody, 12% for Paris Hilton, and a mere 4% want Beyonce Knowles. There’s no accounting for taste.
8. Peace Sign Christmas Wreath = Satan?:
You’ve got to look out for the Homeowners’ Association in any nice suburban neighborhood as this story from Colorado demonstrates. In this story, one homeowner put up a Christmas wreath shaped like a peace symbol and the association fined her when other residents claimed it was a satanic symbol. I kid you not.
7. More Bald Britney Spears Pictures:
Remember early this year when Britney Spears got all whacked out and shaved her head? Well, the pictures are here to prove it!
6. Man Arrested for Licking Feet:
Strangely enough, this little post has made this site a bit of a magnet for foot fetishists around the web. If you don’t believe me, read the comments. Also, if you want to hear a really weird criminal case, read the story.
5. Pamela Anderson Google Ad:
In this lovely little post, we see that Pamela Anderson’s assets are also an asset for a particular internet search engine. I could hardly believe it, but according to readers, this picture is not photoshopped!
4. Tokyo Subway Bans Britney Spears Naked Pictures:
Best idea I’ve heard all day. This story came to us during Britney Spears’ first pregnancy when she started the trend followed by Christina Aguilera posing pregnant and naked on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar. Bazaar (and gross) indeed. Isn’t it nice what former Mousekateers can have in common?
3. Bill Maher’s Halloween Costume in Bad Taste:
Here Bill Maher was just too political incorrect for his own good. This was actually from Halloween back in 2006 right after Steve Irwin met his very unfortunate and untimely demise. Check out this post to get a quick idea about how pissed off the fans really are.
2. Celebrity Idiots Wear Undies Please:
I can’t even begin to imagine why this post was so popular. Oh right, it includes a (censored) picture of all the famous "wide open beaver" shots of everyone’s favorite celebrity idiots: Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, and Lindsay Lohan. Invest in some underwear ladies, please.
1. Brad Pitt Posters on Hospital Walls:
In this piece we find that nurses in the UK in at least one OBY-GYN clinic have begun putting up sexy posters of celebrities like Brad Pitt and George Clooney to help women get through uncomfortable procedures. The message: lay back, relax, and fantasize about these hunks while the doctor probes your vagina. Yay!
