Several years ago, China witnessed deflation and weak demand, which affected steady economic growth and led to a decline in employment and a series of other problems. Finding new areas for consumption was an issue attracting much attention in economic circles. Holiday economy, as a new consumption hotspot, emerged under special conditions, including the revision of holiday terms, the 50th anniversary in 1999 of the founding of the People's Republic of China , and the arrival of the new millennium. The role of holiday economy can be summarized as stimulating consumption and boosting demand.
