What’s wrong with a little prayer?
Obviously there are many people who are outraged by what they saw in the recent Supernanny episode that featured the Chapman family from Kaukauna, Wisconsin. But taking their anger and protective desires to such an extreme level is doing nothing but scaring the kids.
According to an article that appears today in The Appleton Post, viewers can rest assured that protective services is well aware of the case and this family isn’t going to be resting outside a watchful eye anytime soon.
Rather than lynching Glenn and Sara Chapman, everyone should offer them thoughts, prayers and support during their journey to correct what’s wrong within their family. Obviously Glenn didn’t have much to say about his own upbringing, so do we really know what type of parenting skills he learned throughout his own life?
Obviously Sara’s spirit has been broken down enough that she’s lost the will to fight and runs away from challenges rather than facing them. She’s found a logical excuse to run - that being her work as a photographer. In her mind, I’m sure it’s a good excuse, whether we, the viewers, think so or not.
As for Moriah, Brittnay and the three little guys? Rather than coming on the attack of their parents, why not offer a hand in some way. These are just kids people and teaching them that when a person reaches out for help results in a virtual lynching is only going to make them more hesitant to reach out for help in the future.
That’s not what the goal is here, by any means.
Within minutes of the show airing, viewers from across the country flooded message boards at Supernanny’s official Web site. Online posters accused the parents of neglect, said they reported the family to the state and encouraged others to follow suit.
Kaukauna police, who declined to comment, also have been staked out on the street where the family lives. A patrol car Thursday night slowly drove up and down the four-block street.
For those outraged by the girls homeschooling or lack of education, according to sources, word has it that the girls returned to traditional school in the fall.
Rather than posting the address and phone number of the Chapman family (which will be edited and/or removed by the way), rather than driving by their house, rather than spewing hatred toward these kids parents, leave your comments here on Supernanny Rules, on the official Supernanny forum or via the article that appears in The Appleton Post. I’m quite certain, with the level of traffic we’ve been seeing, the family will get the messages you feel you must convey.
