Kids Use Facebook To Organize Protest Against South African Law

Translate Into:

facebooklogoAh, the youth of today, what with their crazy music, their Facebook addictions, and that everstrong desire for smoochin’.

A new law was recently enacted in South Africa that makes it illegal for anyone under the age of 16 to engage in any amorous activity that could lead to sexual arousal. Apparently the law is more directed at sexual predators and those wishing to harm the mentally handicapped, than at actual teenagers “making out”. Nonetheless, this didn’t stop some teenagers from feeling outraged at what the law could mean for them.

14-year-old, Frances Murray, did what any teenager of the 21st century would do: she started a Facebook group called Everyone Against The New Kissing Law. The group, which currently stands at 14,736 members, is organizing public displays of affection at malls around the country every weekend this month. An unnamed Justice Department official said ” “Technically it is illegal, but obviously those children are not going to be charged.”

Man, what fun is breaking the law if no one really cares?

Social networking is an amazing tool for those wishing to organize social change… or finally get their high school crush to kiss them. “Come on… it’s a political protest… REALLY!”
