Shuttle has already made a splash on the mini-PC market, but now it's adding home theater chops to the mix. The XPC G5 6801M maybe the first AMD-based HTPC from the form factor-conscious PC maker, but here's the real treat -- it's both HD DVD and Blu-ray compatible.
I know, I know. That HD DVD thing is soooo two months ago. But for consumers stuck with a stack of the now-useless discs a look at the XPC might be worth it. Under the hood the rig is packing a bevy of home theater goodies like a TV tuner, an ATI HD 3450 256MB graphics card, HDMI-out, and 7.1-channel audio output. On the horsepower side it's running an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200 with 2GB of DDR2-667 RAM, and a 320GB hard drive.
Fringe benefits like six USB ports, two eSATA ports, 25-in-1 card reader, FireWire, and an included remote round out the rig, but at €1091 ($1,716) it's certainly not cheap. We'll give you a full list of deets once we get our hands on one!
