I visit a popular website about Harry Potter, the sad thing is when they posted their hate mail that is similar to Heather's people actually sent more hoping to be "published" on the Wall of Shame.
I think people who hate that much and only attack through the anonymity of e-mail live sad lonely lives. Their anger/hatred is directed at themselves and projected onto (in this case) Heather. Acknowledging their existence validates the fact that their self hatred is justified. Ignoring them creates more isolation and anger that can become homicidal. They're both pitiful and dangerous.
