My late father, H.L. Schlussel MD, loved Irish music. When we (my sisters and brother and I) were little, he would play us music from his collection of "Irish Rovers,""Clancy Brothers," and "The Chieftains" music.
And while I can't listen to his collection until the 1-year anniversary of his death (under Jewish law, the year-long mourning period prohibits listening to music among other things), I was looking at some of his old albums, tapes, and CDs. Among them, there are these that you might like if you like Irish music:
* The Clancy Bros. & Tommy Makem--Self-titled (songs include "Paddy Doyle's Boots")
* Clancy Brothers & Tommy Makem and Their Families--"Irish Folk Airs"
* The Clancy Brothers & Tommy Makem--"Irish Songs of Rebellion"
* The Chieftains 9--"Boil the Breakfast Early"
* The Chieftains--Self-titled
And my dad had much more. He loved listening to this stuff and took me to see the Irish-Canadian group, "Leahy," in Canada. I still have the self-titled "Leahy" cassette he bought me (it was pre-CD).
